Jiménez et al. (2020) – Spain
Title: Eye vergence responses in children with and without reading difficulties during a word detection task
PubMed – PMID: 32143068

In a 2020 study, Jiménez and colleagues analyzed eye convergence movements in Spanish children with and without reading disabilities. The children read short lists of words (real words or nonsense) while their gaze movements were recorded. The result? Children with reading disabilities showed impaired, slower, or less accurate convergence after each word presentation—signaling that visual control problems can affect reading ability and concentration.

These results reinforce the idea that shared vision and visual attention are central to reading, even when formal diagnoses are lacking.
