Imvi School — the training app built for schools
Imvi School is now available on Google Play and the App Store. It is a dedicated training app for schools, separate from the app we sell to private individuals, and it is built around how a school day actually looks: the student does their training independently, staff do not need to start anything, and the teacher monitors the class in the web interface.
The app requires a student account from the school. It cannot be used independently.
Two ways to use it
Training takes place either as a targeted intervention for students with reading and concentration difficulties, or as a whole-class activity to improve reading conditions for all students. The same app, the same training – the school chooses the approach.
How it works for the student
The student logs in with the school's code and their own emoji code. The home screen shows what is currently applicable: today's goal, this week's goal, and the last four weeks. The app guides the student to the next step.
Training comes in two forms: image training, where two images are displayed simultaneously, one for the left eye and one for the right, and the images move slowly sideways while the student watches, and streamed training, the same movement but with streamed programs instead of still images. This is unlocked once the student has completed a full training day with image training.
Periodically, it's time for a test. The test then replaces the training on the home screen until it is completed. The test consists of fifteen questions about how it feels to read, and a reading test in three parts: letters, words, and sentences. Each part takes two minutes, and the student gets to practice first. Staff never administer a test for a student.
The student sees their training, not their results
This is a conscious choice. In the app, you will find today's goal, this week's goal, the number of consecutive days, and a history of the last four weeks. Scores, results, and test answers are never displayed to the student. The student should be able to see that they are training, not compare themselves to a value they cannot interpret.
How it works for the school
Teachers, school administrators, and principals work in Imvi's web interface: classes and students, interpupillary distance, test dates, and follow-up. The teacher sees their class, and the school sees its classes. The app is the student's part of the same system.
Personal data
The school is the data controller, and Imvi is the data processor. Data is stored within the EU/EEA. The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics tools.
Good to know before you start
A student account from the school is required to log in. The student's pupillary distance (PD) must be registered by the school before training can begin. Training takes place with the phone in landscape mode, placed in Imvi's VR glasses. The app is in Swedish.
