An unknown public health problem in one corner of the ring. VR glasses and an app in the other.
Imvi Labs, a Swedish tech company, has created an innovative solution that supports children and young people who struggle with academic performance. This brain workout is a key to success in the classroom.
Vision problems: Imvi Labs offers simple solutions for better eye coordination
Studies show that around ten percent of the Swedish population suffers from problems with their eye coordination. Cross-eye coordination, as it is also called, is a condition in which the eyes do not work together as they should. This can manifest itself in reading and concentration difficulties, double vision and headaches. For people with dyslexia and ADHD, cross-eye coordination problems can be particularly troublesome.
Both the education system and healthcare have too little knowledge about this unknown public health problem. Fortunately, Imvi Labs can offer a simple solution to remedy consensus problems, says Peter Carlsson, co-founder and CEO of Imvi Labs.

Entertaining training
Imvi Labs, in collaboration with researchers at Karolinska Institutet, has developed a solution for improved eye coordination. It involves a pair of VR glasses that are used in conjunction with your own mobile phone, where the Imvis app is installed. The user first completes a vision test and a reading speed test, then the training can begin.
Imvis' brain training is unique because it adapts to your individual level and progress. You can choose to train with pictures and videos, which makes it both fun and motivating.”
During the first week, you train with still images. After that, you can train with your favorite program on public service streaming services or with videos on YouTube, says Peter Carlsson.
While your favorite program is playing, your brain is trained to control your eyes in a precise way.
- Methods for consensus training have existed for over 100 years. The problem is that the exercises are so boring that most people give up too early. Our solution is both effective and entertaining, says Rune Brautaset, co-founder of Imvi Labs and professor at
Karolinska Institute.
Peter and Rune talk about lifelong improvement
Studies at Karolinska Institutet show that two weeks of training produces significant improvements.
All those who have trained for at least twelve weeks have improved their reading speed, on average by about 70 percent.
Rune Brautaset's thesis makes it clear that lasting results are achieved by training for twice the time it takes to become symptom-free. Imvi's own studies also show improved concentration.
– A mother said that her son's migraine-like headaches disappeared after he trained his eye coordination.
Another mother has described how her teenager with dyslexia developed a love of reading for the first time, says Peter Carlsson and continues:
– Many schools struggle to make adjustments for all students who have problems with reading and concentration. Here we have a solution that could help more people get through the school system with passing grades for a more inclusive and equal school.
