From the heart of Malmö – we spread the joy of reading to everyone!

Our goal

Improving people's lives by training functional vision and reading

About 10% of the population struggles to learn to read due to vergence insufficiency. This can lead to double vision, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating while reading. We founded Imvi to provide effective vergence training using modern and accessible tools.

With modern technology and research-based methods, we strive for a world where everyone can read, learn and live without visual barriers.

Our history

When Imvi’s founder, Michael Malmqvist, saw a family member struggle with reading, he discovered the cause wasn’t poor eyesight—it was poor eye coordination. At the time, the only available training was a slow, manual pencil exercise dating back to the 1950s. Michael envisioned something faster, more effective, and accessible to everyone.

A new idea – train the eyes while looking at pictures. The first prototype caught the attention of Karolinska Institutet and St. Erik’s Eye Clinic, sparking a long-term collaboration. This led to a 3D screen and DVD-based training method, with studies showing clear improvements after just 12 weeks.

Today, we’ve left the bulky computers behind and made our training available through a mobile app and VR glasses, making it easier than ever to access. Designed for the 10–20% of people with severe reading difficulties, it can also make a real difference for the up to 50% affected by visual impairments.
