What you'll need to train

  • The Imvi App: Download the Imvi App to your mobile from the App Store or Google Play.

  • VR Glasses: Imvi's VR glasses have adjustable focus and pupillary distance (PD) settings.

  • Pupillary Distance (PD): Your PD—the distance between your pupils—ensures the best experience. Note: you can measure it right in the app.
Parental Guide: If you want to monitor your child's fitness account

To create a guardian account, select the 'Sign Up Here' link at the bottom of the app's home page and fill in your name and email to continue. NOTE: Make sure your child has created their account first.

Select the 'Monitor' icon in the navigation bar and follow the instructions in the app to continue.

  • If your child is 14 years old or older, enter the email address used to create their account.
  • For children 13 years of age or younger, enter their account username.

NOTE: The primary parent or guardian who verified the child's training account (age 13 or younger) will receive an email notification. Once they approve your request, you can begin monitoring.

Tip: To help your child get started, you can access and try the training for free for a week with the guardian account.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1: Create an account

For Training Account (age 14+)

Download and install the Imvi Read app on your mobile from the App Store or Google Play.

Press 'Create Account' and enter the activation code sent to your email after purchase. Please note that this code only confirms your purchase. Your training will begin with your first session.

Continue registering by filling in the required fields; including your name, date of birth, email and create a password.

For Training Account (13 years and younger)

Children 13 and under cannot create a training account with their own email. They will need to enter a guardian's email, then they can create a username and password to login to the app. Their progress reports will be sent to the parent or guardian's verified email address during account creation.

  1. When prompted, enter the parent/guardian's information.

  2. The parent/guardian will receive a confirmation email to verify and complete the registration.

  3. The child chooses a username and password to log in.

Step 2: Complete the tests in the app

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the onboarding tests. The tests help evaluate different aspects of your vision and reading ability:

  • The congruence test shows how well your eyes work together.
  • The reading speed test measures how quickly you can read letters, words and sentences.
Step 3: Enter your Pupillary Distance (PD) measurement

Pupillary distance (PD) is the distance between your eyes, and knowing your measurement is essential for comfortable training.

  • When prompted, enter your PD in the app.

  • If you don't know your PD, use the link provided in the app to get your measurement, and be sure to enter it when you return.

If you have both a PD/n (near) and a PD/a (distance) from your optician, enter your distance PD in the app.

Step 4: Set VR glasses with your PD value

Follow these steps to set the distance between your VR glasses lenses to match your interpupillary distance (PD).

What you need:

  • Measuring tape (preferably in mm)
  • Your PD value
  • VR glasses

1. Find the dial in the center of your VR headset, which adjusts the distance between the lenses.

2. Place the measuring tape at the outer edge of the left lens frame and stretch it to the outer edge of the right lens frame.

3. Turn the PD dial to adjust the distance between the lenses until it matches your interpupillary distance (PD) measurement.

Tip: To avoid changing the lens distance during your training, you can put a piece of duct tape over the steering wheel.

Step 5: Adjust VR glasses for a comfortable fit
  • Put on the VR headset and secure the head strap by pulling it over the back of your head.

  • Adjust it until the glasses fit comfortably.
Step 6: Get ready to train
  1. Tap 'Start Training' on the app's homepage to select your training content.
  2. Select the content you want to train with from the options provided. For your first session, we recommend starting with images to help identify any discomfort.
  3. Insert your phone and center it in the VR headset. Then put on the headset.
  4. Adjust the focus and sharpness of the image by turning the left/right knobs on the headset. Close one eye at a time and adjust the knobs until the image is sharp for both eyes.
Step 7: Start training

Enjoy watching at least 15 minutes of your chosen content while exercising to improve your hand-eye coordination!
