VR training that revolutionizes reading

VR-träning som revolutionerar läsningen

Ever since she was little, Johanna Lindgren Chin's daughter has hated reading. By watching movies in VR glasses, she has now improved her reading speed by a whopping 120%.

The declining reading ability of children and adolescents is a significant and growing problem that affects both schools and society at large. There are several factors that contribute to this development. One aspect that is often overlooked is linked to the brain's coordination of eye movements. This common problem is called astigmatism by opticians. It is estimated that ten percent of the population is affected by astigmatism, and among children and adolescents the proportion can be over 20 percent.

“I'm reading fast now, mom”

Johanna Lindgren Chin's daughter is one of many children who have struggled with reading, largely due to underlying vision problems. When Johanna, who herself is a trained special education teacher and runs the Instagram account Specialpedagog_i_skolan, heard about Imvi Lab's training with VR glasses, she was curious but at the same time a little hesitant.

- When I heard about the solution that Imvi Labs developed, it sounded a little too good to be true. How can you practice reading speed without reading? It went against everything I had previously learned. In hindsight, I'm very glad we chose to test it, she says.

After completing the training, Johanna's daughter has now increased her reading speed by 120%. She says that in addition to reading faster, she also feels that the letters no longer jump like they used to.

How the training works

Peter Carlsson, CEO of Imvi Labs, the company behind these VR glasses, further explains the patented training method developed in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet.

- In short, vision problems mean that the eyes and brain are not well coordinated enough. This problem is also increasing significantly given our increased screen habits, not least among children and young people. What we have done is to develop a method that is both effective and entertaining to tackle this problem. By streaming films, for example via SVT Play or Youtube, in our VR glasses and app, you train the brain's control of the eyes, which leads to both increased reading speed and concentration. Today, over 2,600 people have tested our training and all show improvements.

How do you find out if you suffer from vision problems?

The quickest and easiest way to find out if you have vision problems and are in need of our training is to do our Consensus test . It's free and only takes a couple of minutes to do.

Who can benefit from the training?

  • Those who struggle with consensus issues.
  • Those who struggle with reading difficulties, dyslexia, language disorders but also concentration problems and ADHD.
  • Anyone who, in middle age, feels that their reading speed has deteriorated and that reading is more difficult.
  • Anyone suffering from double vision from concussion, stroke or post-covid.
We offer a free eye contact test to help you find out if you or your child suffers from eye contact problems.

This is how our training works:

Stream your favorite series in VR

Train easily by watching content via the Imvis app.

Workout while streaming your favorite shows

Through the app you choose what type of content you want to watch. We currently support content from Youtube, SVT Play, Binogi, UR Play and content directly from your phone's camera roll.

Train your consensus

The app makes the image swing from right to left, but you perceive it as an image.

You watch series -
Our App does the rest

The training focuses on improving the brain's control of the eyes for better eye coordination. This improves blood flow and oxygenation of the brain, which increases reading speed, reading endurance and concentration.

Follow your progress

In the app you can easily follow your progress and get tips for continued training.

Personalized tips based on your progress

In the app you can follow your or your children's development and results. We offer free accounts for parents to monitor their children's progress! After completing the training, you will receive personal recommendations for further training based on your results and progress.
