SvD raises an important issue about misdiagnosis in reading and writing difficulties

Many children who struggle with reading receive a diagnosis of dyslexia – but in some cases, the issue is actually a vision problem that can be corrected. In a recently published article, Eva Johannesson from SvD highlights how training the eyes to work together can improve both reading speed and focus.

Key insights from the article:

🔹 Vision problems are overrepresented among individuals with dyslexia. Research shows that a significant proportion of children with reading difficulties actually have undetected vision impairments.

🔹 A simple vision test can sometimes replace an extensive dyslexia assessment. Early identification of vision-related issues can save both time and resources for schools and families.

🔹 VR training to improve eye coordination can significantly boost reading speed. In one case, a student increased their reading speed by an impressive 113% after structured training!

🔹 Schools need to improve their ability to identify vision-related reading difficulties early. With the right tools, more children can receive the support they need from the very beginning.

At Imvi, we are committed to helping more children read faster and with greater focus through vision training. A big thank you to Svenska Dagbladet for helping spread awareness about this important topic!
